HortPlus is a New Zealand-based agricultural technology

HortPlus was founded in the sunny Hawke's Bay, one of the largest growing regions in New Zealand. It builds and provides digital solutions to clients and organisations nationally and internationally from offices in Hastings and Wellington.

Connecting Data to the Real World

HortPlus CEO and Founder Mike Barley believes in the power of data but also knows that in the real world it is important to validate systems with input and feedback from actual hardware on the ground and from grower's first-hand experience.

HortPlus maintains close relationships with growers, researchers, and agronomists to help them understand their client needs in the field and in the lab, and maintains a comprehensive network of scientific and research-grade weather stations throughout the country that are calibrated and monitored regularly.

A Bridge Between Science and Growers

Mike and his team have developed trusted relationships with science and technical leaders in a range of fields and have the expertise to bring research extension and knowledge to market in a format that is both powerful and easy to use. Hortplus provides the Met Watch Platform, a key tool providing a network of weather stations across New Zealand providing Weather information to growers.

They also offer Disease Portals for variety of industries and crop types, from kiwifruit and summer fruit, to apples and arable crops, with different tools and crop-specific pest and disease models for each.

New tools are regularly released for growers on the industry-specific Weather & Disease Portals. HortPlus are about to release a soil temperature monitoring tool that supports decision making around planting and crop management and are currently developing a digital evapotranspiration model based on forecast weather and crop factors to improve understanding of how much water is available daily for plants.

Trusted by Industry and Growers to Deliver

HortPlus has been trusted to build time-sensitive solutions that are critical to growers operations and have successfully worked on ongoing projects in a range of industries that have evolved and developed over multiple seasons.

Sustainability Focussed

Sustainability and improved resource usage is a driving force behind our platform and our solutions have a direct connection with sustainable practices and improvement.

Built in New Zealand with a Global Outlook

Mike is proud they are an independent company with a desire for the long-term success of all clients. Their technology is built in New Zealand.
